Founder

Dr. Amatie

I am a 75-year-old African American Muslim Educator, Psychotherapist, Family Therapist, Human Rights Consultant, and lifelong civil rights advocate— a foot soldier from Selma, Alabama. From marching across the Deep South to enduring wrongful incarceration and earning my PhD in Education, I have carried with me profound insights into justice, resilience, and dignity. Together with a council of elderly sages and fellow activists, I offer my lived experiences and spiritual reflections to guide you back to Allah (SWT) and the Prophet’s (SAW) examples.

I strive to embody a harmonious blend of spiritual insight and worldly scholarship. As a devoted Muslim, my journey acknowledges human imperfection and my own personal flaws, while also reflecting my unwavering love for Allah (SWT), the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), and my beloved Sheikh (RA). Before I depart this realm, I share my life experiences with seekers—those who knowingly and unknowingly search for truth. This online sanctuary of transformative reflections is a portal into my phenomenological experiences, leading to Islam and a deeper connection to love, courage, and trust in the One Creator, Allah (SWT).

My activism ignited during the 1960s voting‐rights movement. On March 7, 1965, I stood on the Edmund Pettus Bridge and witnessed John Lewis being beaten—an image that forever sealed my commitment to nonviolent resistance. Just four days later, my brother Leroy survived a KKK attack that took the life of Viola Liuzzo.

Years of wrongful incarceration only deepened my resolve, compelling me to channel my passion into education. Earning my PhD in Education reaffirmed my belief that knowledge is a catalyst for community transformation and spiritual awakening. I believe that when every human and jinn open their hearts in love and gratitude to the Creator, inner transformation blossoms into enduring peace.
